DIRECTORS

Matthew Swope serves as Director of Choral Activities and Performing Arts Department Chair at Winter Park High School. He conducts Park Singers, Concert Choir, Men’s Chorale, Wildcat Men’s Ensemble, Naughty Scotty and the Octapella, and Take 7. Mr. Swope also teaches AP Music Theory. In addition to his work at WPHS, he has served on the voice faculty of Rollins College and the instructional staff of Camp A Cappella.

 

A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Swope received the Master of Music degree in Voice Performance & Pedagogy and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with undergraduate degrees in Music and in Classics & Ancient Mediterranean Studies from The Pennsylvania State University. In 2013, he was the recipient of Penn State’s “Outstanding Alumni Music Educator Award.” Choirs under Mr. Swope’s direction have performed for the Florida Music Education Association (2016), Florida American Choral Directors Association (2011, 2015), International Championship of High School A Cappella Finals (2012, 2015), and National A Cappella Convention (2018). Under his direction, NSO and Take 7 were selected for the Best of High School A Cappella compilations (2017, 2018). Mr. Swope has presented sessions for ACDA, FMEA, the Kettering National A Cappella Festival, and the Classical Association of the Middle West and South. 

 

He is an active tenor soloist and was a founding member of the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers. He has participated in masterclasses with Jerry Blackstone, Simon Carrington, Marilyn Horne, and Dawn Upshaw. Mr. Swope serves on the Board of Directors for the A Cappella Education Association and is a member of ACDA, NAfME, FMEA, FVA, NATS, and Pi Kappa Lambda.

Hollie Pratt serves as Associate Director of Choral Activities at Winter Park High School. She conducts Belle Chanson, Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale, Cantabile, and Freshman Women’s Chorus.

 

An alumna of Winter Park High School, Miss Pratt received the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University in Utah. While at BYU, she performed and toured with the Brigham Young University Singers and Noteworthy. Miss Pratt also served as an assistant conductor of the BYU University Chorale. Previously, as a student at Winter Park High School, Miss Pratt served as Chorus President, a two-year member of Park Singers and Belle Chanson, and a founding member of Take 7. She is a member of ACDA, NAfME, FMEA, and FVA.
