On-Campus College Visits
During the school year, over 100 college representatives will visit the WPHS campus during the school day for informative sessions with students.
Seniors, juniors, and sophomores may sign up in the College & Career Center to attend a college visit. Students are limited to 5 visits each year. Please make informed decisions on whether the school is a fit for you based on GPA and testing requirements. College & Career volunteers can help you with this!
Teacher approval must be granted in advance for students to miss class in order to attend a college visit.
For students unable to attend a college visit, a copy of the presentation information, along with the recruiter’s contact information is maintained in the College & Career Center.

Financial Aid
Be sure to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as October 1st of your senior year. This is a necessary step in qualifying for all need-based scholarships and grants. Also, many colleges, universities, and career schools use your FAFSA information to award state and college aid. The process is free. Never pay to apply for federal financial aid.
Some colleges and universities also require a CSS profile that can be completed on the College Board website. There is a fee from College Board, so make sure your school requires it.
Scholarships
LOCAL!
Check out our very own Winter Park scholarship database. This database is maintained by volunteers and is updated frequently. Our Winter Park scholarship database focuses mostly on local scholarships because we feel that the oftentimes geographical requirement for these scholarships narrows the competition and allows our students a very good chance of qualifying!
NATIONAL
National scholarship search engines are listed under the link in the right-hand column under Scholarship Websites. Remember that these scholarships are open to everyone, so it is important to spend your time only applying to the ones for which you feel you are uniquely qualified. It is also a good idea to create a separate e-mail account when you sign up for these national scholarship sites because you will receive lots of e-mails daily from these sites.
FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES
Get an up-to-date description of the Florida Bright Futures scholarship program. Be aware that the requirements vary according to your graduation year.
Our experience has shown us that the majority of financial aid comes directly from the schools that accept you. Many schools automatically consider you for their foundation scholarships, but others require a separate application. Visit the financial aid web site of your college frequently for updates!
Best of luck and PLEASE let us know if you receive a scholarship – we want to spread the great news!
Center Library
Our center has many resources available for check-out. Stop by to see our selection of SAT/ACT study guides, college information books, AP/Subject Test study guides and much more!
