Student Services

Students at Winter Park High School have access to a wide range of resources through the Student Services office that can greatly facilitate their high school experience and set them up for success. School counselors support students through academic counseling.  They provide information about course selections and options, tips for avoiding academic pitfalls, and much more. They also assist students with personal issues affecting their academic performance. More specifically, each student has an opportunity to meet with their counselor multiple times throughout the school year to make sure they are graduation ready and that they have a post secondary plan in line with their goals for the future

All students are assigned a ninth grade or main campus school counselor based on the initial letters of their last name. Students and families may make an appointment with their assigned school counselor through our Student Services office or by emailing them directly. Counselors will be available for walk-in general questions every day during both lunch periods, before and after school.

  • Students are encouraged to utilize the center beginning in 9th grade for post-high school planning. We are here to provide the following services: counseling students in every aspect of the college process, guiding students through self-analysis, career exploration, and educational goal setting, hosting on-campus college visits from participating schools, standardized testing, and college funding. The center is open from 7:00 am -2:45 pm for students. Parents can contact Weeze Cullen, College and Career Specialist, at margaret.cullen@ocps.net for an appointment.

     

    Over 100 universities and colleges will send a representative to Winter Park each year to inform students about the application process, campus culture, application and financial aid deadlines, living and dining opportunities, study abroad experiences, curriculum and research options, and much more.   • There are three important steps you must complete for community service:
    1.Complete the Community Service Log and Reflection Form.
    2. Attach either a letter from the organization with which the student volunteered or pay stub from the place of employment.
    3.Submit your Community Service Log and Reflection Form with hours completed and letter from the organization or paystub to the Student Services office. We recommend you make a copy of all documents before submitting them.

    Please note the Community Service Proposal Form is no longer part of the this process.

    ***Students CANNOT obtain Bright Futures community service hours for being a Student Assistant, participating in PIT Crew, or for attending club meetings.***

    STUDENT SERVICES CONTACTS

    CLERK

    Diane Griffin – our student services clerk sets appointments for students to meet with their counselors, distributes test results, report cards, progress reports, schedules and more. She schedules parent/teacher conferences at the parents request to speak with more than one of their student’s teachers. Teachers and parents wishing to meet one on one are asked to schedule those conferences between the individuals involved.
     

    REGISTRATION/TRANSCRIPTS

    Jennifer Parkis- our registrar registers all new students. If you need a grade from a transferring new student, she is the person to ask. She orders and processes transcripts for both students new to WPHS and students needing them for college.
     

    RECORDS & WITHDRAWALS

    Shirley Ulmer, our records clerk is responsible for all student cumulative folders, ordering student diplomas, keeping a running list of graduating seniors. If you need to look into a student’s record, she is the person to ask.
     

    STAFFING SPECIALIST

    The Staffing Specialist Christine Pomeroy, works on placement and accommodations for Special Needs Students, those with Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) in their classes. She will distribute a confidential list of our special needs students working toward a standard diploma and their IEP accommodations. Please make every effort to make sure you are meeting the accommodations for these students. The Placement Special also oversees all of our Special Diploma students.
     

    504 CONTACT

    Our 504 Contact Angela Austin can answer any questions you may have about making accommodations for students in your classes who have a 504 Plan and she can coordinate 504 Plan meetings to determine how effective the current accommodations are as well as conduct potential eligibility meetings for students considering a 504 Plan. She will distribute a confidential list of our 504.

    CHILL (Community Help & Intervention in Life's Lessons) counseling program. Sponsored by the Winter Park Health Foundation, the CHILL program is a free counseling program for students and families in Winter Park High and all of its elementary and middle feeder schools. The Foundation provides a licensed mental health counselor in each of these 12 schools to help students address a variety of emotional issues.

  • School Counselors - Students are assigned to 1 of 8 School Counselors who can support them with both academic and personal issues. They also provide them with resources.  When in doubt, ask your counselor. 

    SAFE Coordinator - Provides crisis intervention on campus and connects students/families to resources.  Students experiencing food insecurity or temporary housing can also receive support through SAFE. 

    School Mental Health Social Worker - Provides crisis intervention on campus and connects students/families to resources.

    CHILL - Provides individual and group counseling services during the school day. 

    Mentoring Program - Students are matched with an adult mentor from the community for academic support and general advice. 

    WPHS Student Health Center - Our clinic can provide medical services such as school physicals and sick visits with our nurse practitioner.

    Outside Counseling Resources - We can provide families with a list of local mental health resources for a variety of concerns.

  • What is the purpose of SAFE?

    The Student Assistance and Family Empowerment Program, or SAFE, provides a comprehensive range of prevention and intervention services for students and their families at the elementary and secondary schools in the District. The focus is based on student needs in the areas of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence prevention. A variety of programs are used to support that goal:

  • WPHS Transcripts

    Transcripts:
     Due to the private student information contained in the transcripts, they cannot be emailed to any student or parent.  Students that need to provide a list of courses/grades to coaches or scholarships should use the link below for current students to order a hard copy.

    All ordered transcripts MUST be picked up within 30 days.

    • Class of 2025 only should use this link to order their final official transcripts.
    Final Transcripts for the class of 2025 only. We will start taking final transcript requests from the Class of 2025 on May 1, 2025. You must use this link in order to request a copy of your final transcript. We cannot take verbal orders. Hard copies of transcripts will be available for pick up at the 9th Grade Center on June 12, 2025.

    • Current Students should use this link to order official transcripts.

    • Winter Park HS Alumni (former students who graduated in 2024 and prior) and Withdrawn Students must order transcripts via our new online payment system. Please check back in July for updates.
    o For the alumni requests, please include your name, graduation year, student number, and the address within the United States (or fax number, if preferred) where you would like to send the transcript.  You can also request a hard copy to be picked up at the Student Services Office.  We will follow up with you via email to confirm that your request has been processed.
